The Grow Taller Guide

Overtraining And Height Increases

Like millions of other people out there, achieving your maximum height is likely something that you are striving for. Whether you are still in your growth stages or are well passed that and are now looking for ways you might be able to spark some new growth, there are various factors out there that can help or hinder you.

You have likely seen many different products out on the market geared towards people who are trying to grow taller, some of them have some degree of merit and others are nothing more than expensive water or capsules. When thinking about height increases, it's far better to look for natural ways you can affect the growth hormone secretion in your body since it is both safer and usually more effective.

So how can you naturally cause more growth secretion? One way is through exercise. After vigorous physical exercise the body has a tendency to release a larger concentration levels of growth hormone as a result of this. You can see this process by looking at serious body builders. One of the reasons they are able to generate so much muscle mass tissue is because they are pushing themselves maximally and then allowing themselves a period of time where they can rest, recuperate and grow.

Hold on for a second though. Before you go rushing out to give 110% at your next gym session, there is something else you should know. This can be overdone. If you 'go hard' too many days in a row, you could actually begin to sacrifice any excess growth processes that take place and only hinder yourself.

A condition that is commonly referred to as overtraining is a very serious one that many exercise enthusiasts find themselves with. What is occurring here is that they are providing that maximal stimulus that is needed in the gym only they are NOT providing the rest that is necessary for their bodies to grow stronger because of it. Not only are they not going to grow stronger, but they are also unlikely to grow taller either.

When overtraining takes place, the body's immune system becomes less efficient. This means you are at a higher risk of catching virus's or other diseases. With that comes the fact that your body will be expending more energy to fighting off invaders than designating this energy towards tissue growth, leaving you at a loss for reaching your maximal height.

Individuals who are overtrained also tend to have suppressed natural growth hormone release so this in itself is also going to prevent any natural height increases from taking place and will actually have you working in the opposite direction from where you want to be.

So make sure you pay close attention to the volume and intensity of your workout program and ensure that you are dedicating a sufficient number of days for rest and recovery. Some of the signs that you may be suffering from overtraining are:

-reduced motivation to go to the gym

-increases or decreases in body weight

-low libido

-low energy levels

-depression

-frequent colds or infections

-injuries that don't seem to heal

-decreased desire to partake in activities formerly enjoyed

-withdrawal from social activities

-reduced concentration levels

-change in appetite

-decreased performance and a decline in strength

If you see some of these symptoms taking place, the first thing to do is give yourself a full 4-7 days off from the gym. Try and make these days as relaxing as possible so as to let your body get some good recovery time in.

Second to that you will want to make sure you are on top of your nutrition, being sure to take in ample amounts of carbohydrates to refill the muscle's glycogen stores. Often athletes go on low carbohydrate diets, which cause these stores to become depleted which in itself can be cause for over training.

Finally make sure you speak with a qualified professional about your program so that once you get back on it changes are made so you do not experience this problem once again. One or two infrequent bouts of overtraining are not going to have that devastating effect on your height increases but if you are constantly teetering on the line of overtraining you more than likely will not be reaching your maximum height any time soon.
